Snoring

Though snoring is often taken lightheartedly, for me, it isn’t taken seriously enough. Albeit said in jest, jokes or jibes over the years often lead people to feel sensitive on the subject and that merely adds one problem onto another.

If you are reading this then either you, or your partner, probably snores. You have my sympathy as I know it can lead to considerable suffering. It prevents a good restful night’s sleep, which has knock on effects for the day ahead, and if it’s chronic snoring has long-term effects.

Here’s the good news. When we snore we shortchange our body of Oxygen. That explains the dry mouth and tiredness in the morning. But we can change that- through our breathing. There are other remedies out there, but breathing addresses the underlying issue, because snoring is breathing. It’s similar to speaking or singing, where our breath passes over our vocal cords which vibrate and produce sound. No breath, no speech. With snoring it is the same only this time it is soft tissue in our throat, our tonsils or tongue that vibrates to produce the sound. Again, no breath, no snoring.

Reducing or curing snoring altogether is actually a lot simpler than people realise. Every case is different but I find that if people commit and make certain changes to their routine, results can be life-changing. All it takes is a willingness to try and a desire to sleep better, and of course to want the same for your loved one.
