I studied engineering and worked for 30 years in aviation, ultimately as a manager. I retrained in 2010 and am now a registered psychotherapist and hypnotherapist in private practice.
My breathing approach draws from the Buteyko Method and my own experience and research. I keep it as simple as possible, teaching people what they need to know and how to breathe to alleviate and manage their symptoms.
I've worked hard on making things simple and easy for people to understand. Having a basic understanding of the science makes it all so much clearer and speeds up progress.
For me, it is important that you progress at your own pace, with specific exercises that meet with the science, work for you and that you don’t find stressful.
Anxiety and asthma often go hand in hand, as everyone affected knows.
I like to teach people how to control both, with simple techniques drawn from CBT and hypnotherapy for the anxiety.
I try to find ways to integrate good breathing practice into people’s lives: walking, gardening...whatever activity they enjoy. If it’s something they like, I bring music into the mix as well.
A 1 hour session takes up less than 1% of someone’s week. That makes it vital for people to have material to take away that they can refer to and/or use to practise between sessions.
I believe in giving people value for money and providing a quality service. For me, every session matters. There are many teachers to choose from and I always appreciate someone picking me out.
As well as working with people online from all over the UK, I deliver mental health services to NHS staff: counselling, psychotherapy (CBT), as well as breathing, and have done for the last five years.
In therapy, I work with people who need a bit more help, on a range of issues from anxiety and stress, ADHD, trauma and chronic pain.

Having worked with asthma for over five years, I now use other techniques as well as Buteyko. My aim is always to teach people how to manage their symptoms and safely reduce their dependence on inhalers.

People with COPD often say their GP said little could be done. Yes, it requires sessions to be spread out over time, but improving breathing patterns with a gentle approach can make a real difference.

Sleeping well is a challenge to many of us today. My approach involves combining breathing techniques with hypnotherapy recordings before bedtime to calm the mind and set up the nervous system for rest.

Learning to breathe well always improves sleep, but reducing or eradicating snoring literally changes lives. Both partners discover what it means to feel fully refreshed.

A runner myself, I work with asthma and/or EIB (exercise-induced bronchoconstriction). Cardio fitness and runs make progress rapid. Performance improves, stitches end and symptoms reduce or often disappear.

Rory McIlroy said breathing helped him win at the 2025 Masters. For club level golfers, breathing techniques offer us a safe swing, health benefits, and enjoying our golf more.

Dr Konstantin Buteyko was a Ukrainian doctor who developed his method in the fifties. He suffered with life-threatening high blood pressure, which he cured by changing his breathing. He opened clinics in Russia and the Buteyko method is now taught by qualified instructors all over the world.
